Iterations: 9

Mr. Bill – Jeetvak_9.5:
The first iteration of this actually started as being The Art Of Mr. Bill – Season 3, but then all the video files became corrupt (thanks Camtasia), so, I ended up making this into a track anyway, because I really liked the inital rolling sort-of garage-ey feel to it and the melody that meanders between major and minor. This initial part ended up being in the final arrangement at around 3:05 as a pre-cursor to the final extremely-glitchy drop. I also think the initial bell arp didn’t make it to the final, but listening back to it now I wonder why, I think it sounds pretty awesome actually…

Third Party Plug-ins used in this iteration:
Lennar Digital – Sylenth 1
XferRecords – Cthulhu
U-He – Zebra 2
ISM – Bazzism

Mr. Bill – Jeetvak_9.5_2:
So in this iteration, things are much the same in terms of production, but in terms of arrangement, you can see I’ve added a little bit of an intro (which is much darker than the intro that made it to the final), and then added a jersey club style section after the main drop (which didn’t make it to the final).

Third Party Plug-ins used in this iteration:
Lennar Digital – Sylenth 1
XferRecords – Cthulhu
U-He – Zebra 2
ISM – Bazzism

Mr. Bill – Jeetvak_9.5_3:
In this iteration you can see I’ve added a bridge after the jersey club section that leads into another section that I don’t think made it into the final (at least that lead definitely didn’t). Production is much the same as the previous two iterations, it’s mostly just arrangement/idea generating going on here.

Third Party Plug-ins used in this iteration:
Lennar Digital – Sylenth 1
XferRecords – Cthulhu
U-He – Zebra 2
Toontrack – Superior Drummer
ISM – Bazzism

Mr. Bill – Jeetvak_9.5_4:
Here you can see the intro that made it into the final version starting to form. As well as edits starting to happen in the drops to make them glitchier.

Third Party Plug-ins used in this iteration:
Lennar Digital – Sylenth 1
XferRecords – Cthulhu
U-He – Zebra 2
Toontrack – Superior Drummer
ISM – Bazzism
Native Instruments – Kontakt 5

Mr. Bill – Jeetvak_9.5_5:
In this version, the intro you hear in the final is almost done, minus the vocals, and the first drop has been fleshed out a lot.

Third Party Plug-ins used in this iteration:
Lennar Digital – Sylenth 1
XferRecords – Cthulhu
U-He – Zebra 2
Toontrack – Superior Drummer
ISM – Bazzism
Native Instruments – Kontakt 5

Mr. Bill – Jeetvak_9.5_6:
Intro has been fleshed out more and some groups of types of sounds have been rendered into single audio files for editing.

Third Party Plug-ins used in this iteration:
Lennar Digital – Sylenth 1
XferRecords – Cthulhu
U-He – Zebra 2
Toontrack – Superior Drummer
ISM – Bazzism
Native Instruments – Kontakt 5
U-He – Uhbik-A

Mr. Bill – Jeetvak_9.5_7:
In this version, vocals started to be added, and the chords in the first drop started to get edited a lot which started to really define the groove of the track, and what kind of song it actually was.

Third Party Plug-ins used in this iteration:
Lennar Digital – Sylenth 1
XferRecords – Cthulhu
U-He – Zebra 2
Toontrack – Superior Drummer
ISM – Bazzism
Native Instruments – Kontakt 5
U-He – Uhbik-A

Mr. Bill – Jeetvak_9.5_8:
At this point the song really starts to take form. The production is mostly there, the sections are mostly there, it just needs a little bit of editing, mixing and arrangement to finalise everything. Also, in this version, the second glitchy drop starts to form nicely.

Third Party Plug-ins used in this iteration:
U-He – Zebra 2
Toontrack – Superior Drummer
ISM – Bazzism
Valhalla – Room

Mr. Bill – Jeetvak_9.5_9:
The final version of Jeetvak lies here. All the edits are nice, the mix is nice, things have been rendered and re-edited, it sounds very glitchy, yet really comprehensible (in my opinion anyway). Check out the difference between this project file and the previous one to spot any mix changes I made. Also, this track has probably the most insanely unconventional mastering chain on it ever! I’m using a chain selector in an audio effect rack to select different effect chains for different points in time in the track, but I’m also using Ableton’s native Vocoder to add noise to the master via it’s in-built noise generator so it sounds brighter, rather than EQ’ing it. Definitely worth a look 🙂

Third Party Plug-ins used in this iteration:
U-He – Zebra 2
Toontrack – Superior Drummer
ISM – Bazzism
Valhalla – Room
U-He – Uhbik-A
FabFilter – Pro-Q 2
FabFilter – Pro-L

NOTE: This is around 13 hours of live-streaming I did of working on this track. This does not cover the entire writing process from start to finish like other series I’ve done might, however, you may learn a few nifty tricks regardless!
