How To Create ‘Live Packs’

This is a quick run down on how to create a Live pack.

A Live pack is essentially a nice neat little file that uses lossless compression to pack your Live projects down in to a singular file that you can e-mail easily etc. This is how you create one.

1. Open the project that you with to create a Live pack for.

2. Go to the file menu and choose “Manage Files…” This will open up a browser on the right hand side of Live.

3. In that browser choose “Manage Project”

4. In this project managing window there will be a tab called “Packing”, open that tab and then click on “Create Live Pack”.

The file it will create is a .alp file, and it looks like this.

It is much like a .zip or .rar file in the sense that it packs your project down in to one tidy file that is easy to transfer over the internet, and as I mentioned earlier it uses lossless file compression so it won’t effect your audio at all! All the person on the other end has to do is double click the file and Live will open it and give you the option to save the project as an uncompressed, regular Live project somewhere else on your hard drive. You can then delete the .alp file if you wish.
